Our family also has some unproven condundrums about the Ismays that seem impossible. We have an old letter from one relative saying that great aunt "Lizzie Ismays" son can't attend Winston Churchills funeral because he is too ill. Another relative saying how he worked very closely with Churchill and how she remembers him (possibly 1907-1912) as a young man wearing such a lovely uniform with red pipin and that he was her mothers cousin on the "other side". However a search of Lionel Hastings Ismay shows a mother of a different name to Lizzie but the family liked nick names. However "Lizzie Ismay was supposed married to a Colliver at one stage. Secondly my mother says that the widow of the captain of the Titanic lived on the top floor of my father's 4 storey house at the time she and my father were courting (around 1931). The link with Ismays is supposedly through the maternal Penno or Treleaven line of the Rayner family. Any clarity on this would be appreciated. Notify Administrator about this message?
