Looking for the father’s name of Calvin A. Isley, born circa 1862-1864, probably in Alamance County, NC. Rex Isley and I are researching all descendants of Malachi Isley. We know that Calvin’s mothers name is Sarah, born circa Jan 1842. Sarah and Calvin are enumerated with Julian and Tena Cornelia Isley in 1870 in Coble Twp, Alamance County, NC. We know that Sarah subsequently did marry K. Boaz Isley, brother of Julian Isley, and son of Henry of Malachi II Isley. In 1870, Boaz is enumerated with his parents in Sheridan, Cherokee County, Kansas. In 1880, Boaz and Sarah are in Lola, Cherokee County, Kansas with Calvin, age 18; Joseph S., age 7; and Alson, age 3. (

In 1900, Calvin has married an Eliza, born July 1866. They are in California Twp, Madison County, Arkansas and are enumerated there in 1910 and 1920 also. Calvin’s children are: John W, born March 1889; Joseph Carl, born Dec 1892; and Jesse, born Oct 1894. Through son John W. he had grandchildren: Charles A., Pauline and Bonnie.
(Sarah, Joseph and Alson also migrated to Arkansas).

There is the possibility that Boaz could have been the father but we do not believe this is the case.

Any information that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated.

Sandra Arnold
