Dear Malcolm,
Thanks for your reply. You are right, I did skip a generation. Ebenezer 1878's mother was Elizabeth Stewart, his paternal grandmother's name was Isobel Stewart. I would be interested in any information you have as I am visiting Scotland soon. I have traced the family back to James Isles (Ealge)born 1722 who married Isobel Irland in 1749.

Prior to that I suspect James Ealge's father was George Isles, (who had a twin called Gilbert) both baptised 5th
April in parish of Errol Perthshire. According to my searches, George (1688) also had a wife called Isobel Ireland whom he married in 1718, while James Isles (Ealge) married his Isobel Ireland in 1749.

Do you know where Dykeside of Meginry is? Or Parkhead, where the Irelands came from for some time? I can find 2 Dykesides in the vicinity, but not one that might have been called of Meginry.

Anyway it is nice to hear from a distant cousin.

Best wishes, Rayner
