Hi Pam , had a couple of people trying to help you , and they have found a Philip Caine marrying Catharine Watterson in Braddan on 14/5/1834 - yes 1834 , not 1854 , and has found them on 1841/51 and 61 census , but no sign of John Thomas Cain . Are you able to check with your cousin to confirm the date on the certificate you have

This changes things a lot if this is correct . A contact has this family back to the 1600's
