Hi David, thanks for the help.
I think Thomas (b 1800)father is Patrick b abt1770. If the Patrick who died 1875 aged 81 was born 1794, then he could be Thomas's older brother and this would make sense if the first born is named after the father.
Thomas b1826 died in Corowa, NSW 1898, his son Archibald (my greatgrandfather) was born in Rutherglen, NSW 1874. As Thomas's father died in 1849 and he doesn't appear in the 1851 IoM census I guess he left for Australia around that time.
