letter- 1867-3 Castle Terrace I O M
Could some one tell me where "3 Castle Terrace" is on the IOM.
I know this is a long shot, but does any one know who lived at this address in 1867?
Is anyone familiar with the area?
Any info is appreciated
My husbands g g grandfather(R Dalglish-aged 12 years old)was obviously holidaying or staying for a short time and wrote a letter in 1867 from "3 Castle Terrace", I O M to his sister(& family)in Scot or Eng.
letter:
I hope you are quite well. We have been a walk up to the nunery on Sunday night, it is about 5 miles, we started at 20 minutes to seven, and got home at halfpast nine. We went to cook's brother's house to ask him to show us the way and too day we went out a oar up, and down, before the house in a racing gig name the Alice and a very nice ace she is, cushions in the stern sheets. We have a bathe every morning wet or fine.We get up very early sometimes and tell papa that the cock and the parriot goes on just as before. We had band playing all yesterday night in the next Garden and they got 5 shillings in about a quarter of an hour and they sung that the people dance in the next house. You ought to see principal street here, it is like a little back alley in Grange law. There is same Cresant buss's going up and down and they are like our milk cart with 2 or 3 cushions in side. There is a thereate here and an opera in this wonderful place as the Isle of Man.
Now I must close with best love from all..
I remain your brother
Cheers
Julie
