Dee, I don't know anything for certain about Belle's parents other than that according to her federal census records as Joseph B. Isenhower's wife,it is indicated that she and both of her parents were born in Tennessee.I'm researching a John M. and Caroline Richmond who are shown in the 1880 federal census for Fulton Co. AR which indicates that they both were born in Tennessee, matching the birth location details in Belle's census records.I've not been able to locate so far an 1860 or 1870 federal census record for John M. Richmond that would show Belle as one of his children. He lived in Kentucky in 1860 and possibly Butler Co MO in 1870, according to a Civil War pension application he completed in the 1870's when he lived in Fulton Co AR.
Even Belle's birth date/year is in question. While all of the federal census records reflect a birth year in or around 1859,the cemetery index listing for her in Franklin Co. AR indicates her birth date to be January 10, 1857.She's been a challenge to pin down the correct details so far!Until we know who her parents were, we can't confirm whether she was from a Cherokee Indian heritage.
You also mention Cynthia Jane King Isenhower Burk, who was Joseph B. Isenhower's mother and John D. Isenhower Sr.'s wife.I'm also doing some research on her parentage--I believe that her father was Isaac King and her mother was Roenna Bridges--I haven't found anything so far that suggests that Jane or her mother Roenna was an American Indian.
