Feb. 15, 1922 -- Nov. 21, 2005

Longtime Port Angeles resident Fritz CONRAD died of cancer at age 83.

He was born in Bartlesville, Okla., to Fred and Charlotte Vera (KOHLER) ISELI Jr.

He moved to the North Olympic Peninsula as an infant, and changed his surname to CONRAD after his mother's remarriage.

After attending schools in Port Townsend and Port Angeles, where he graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1940, he worked for Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, Calif.

He served in the Navy in 1942-45 as an aviation metalsmith. His duty stations included Ford Island, Hawaii, and Whidbey Island.

He married Delorise PATTERSON in Port Angeles in 1942.

After his discharge, he and wife lived first in California, then returned to Port Angeles, where he worked at the Fibreboard mill. He was supervisor of the shipping and planning until mill operations ceased, and held the post of secretary-treasurer of Fibreboard Credit Union.

Mr. CONRAD then joined his wife in her ceramic business and worked for the Postal Service as a rural carrier.

Mr. CONRAD's retirement years included extensive motor-home travel with his wife to 49 states, all Canadian provinces and Northwest Territories and throughout Mexico.

He was a longtime volunteer on the building committee of the Clallam County Historical Society museum, a member of the Clallam County Amateur Radio Club and the Kiwanis Club of Juan de Fuca.

Mr. CONRAD's survivors include his wife of 63 years; sons and daughters-in-law Allan and Diane CONRAD of Renton and Terry and Lisa CONRAD of Poulsbo; daughter and son-in-law Linda Sue and Vernon REIDEL of Port Angeles; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services: At his request, none. His ashes were interred at Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles.

Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, was in charge of arrangements.
