While I do not descend from Benjamin Isbell, I had my brother do a DNA test for the Henry Isbell line of Virginia. Interesting results! I like to note the differences in the lines concerning mutations. Our lines matches up with the James Isbell line exactly for 37 markers. That's over 200 years of the same DNA. Since all the other lines have mutations, I think that our line through Henry Isbell and the line through James Isbell may be showing the original sequence. I might upgrade in the future to 67 or 111 to be sure.
Thank you and the other Isbell researchers for starting the Isbell Surname Project. It's something that I check on often. Hopefully more Isbell descendants will add to the DNA project in the future.
