The Nolen line does not appear directly connected to my ISBELL line. I don't want to 'muddy the waters' and give incorrect information. With that in mind, I will only answer this question, because I don't like to give answers on lines I haven't personally researched, or if the researcher isn't someone I deem reliable:
YOU ASKED:
Also is the Mary Isbell Love who married Isiah Hollis of Shelby Co, the sister of Jesse Isbell [Which Jesse?
ANS:There was a Jaycen Isbell, who may have been called "Jesse", b c1809, stayed in the Warren Co. area after other ?family members? removed to Alabama.I've found nothing to prove they were sibs, but have a HUNCH they may be].
[Mary Love was a grdau of Jason "Jesse Isbell b c1750, wife said to be Elsie ?Lyons; dau of Zachariah Isbell b c1780-1790 & Margaret Brown d/o Rev. War Soldier Robert Brown].
[your msg continued]
the father of this Elizabeth who married Green Nolen as it may appear? Who was Mary Love's 1st husband?
[MY ANSWER:PROBABLY 2 DIFFERENT LINES, POSSIBLY CONNECTED EARLY ON]
The Mary Isbell LOVE, d/o of Zachariah Isbell & Margaret Brown, was PROBABLY the same one who married Isaiah Hollis 16 June 1856 in Shelby Co., AL.Mary Love was named in her grandfather Robert Brown's(intestate) estate settlement. Robert Brown died 1849 in Warren Co., TN, but papers were recorded in Jefferson Co., AL.Some of the heirs lived in Blount Co., some in Shelby Co.Whether Jefferson Co. was chosen to record the papers because it was fairly central, or whether Jefferson Co. ended up with the records because of being created during that period is not known. At any rate, the record isin Probate Book 1, which includess some Blount Co. and begins Jefferson Co. earliest days.Kept in Clerk of the Court's Office, Jefferson Co., Bham, AL.
Each of Robert Brown's 3 children William, Margaret & Rebecca (or children's respective heirs if the child predeceased him) had a 1/3 share. In Margaret Brown Isbell's case, her 1/3 share was then distributed as a 1/9 share amont her children and/or children's heirs. Some predeceased her, with progeny.
Mary signed as Mary [her X mark] Love.No husband signed, as married women with undivorced/living husbands were required to do.It has therefore been presumed that Mary Isbell Love's husband was deceased or she divorced him.
From my "Notes" on Mary Isbell Love in db:
"It is speculated that Mary married first in Tennessee or Alabama to a Mr. Collins. The only document extant in Jackson Co., AL that mentions Zachariah Isbell [although he did own land there] is one that states Zachariah Isbell owes two $7.00 notes on the estate of Joseph Collins. There is a grave marker in Vandiver, Shelby Co., AL that reads Mary Collins Isbell, placed there in the 1970s following some discussion as to how her name should read.Robert Brown's
estate papers list Mary's name as a child of Margaret Brown and Zachariah Isbell; her husband was not required to sign, indicating she was a widow [or perhaps divorced].There is amarriage certificate of Isiah Hollis to Mary Love dated 16 June 1856, Shelby County, AL.They are on the 1860 USC in Shelby Co., AL.
From my "Notes" on Robert Brown, grandfather of Mary Isbell Love:
