Generation One


1. JACOB1 SHELL (2178) was born circa 1755 at Wiltshire. He married Ann Lent (2239) on 23 June 1777 at Box, Wiltshire.1 He married Betty Wheeler (2179), daughter of James Gardner (2251) and Lucy Hudd (2252), on 7 February 1785 at Corsham, Box, Wiltshire.2 He died circa 1837 at Bathford, Somerset. He was buried on 29 April 1837 at Bathford, Somerset.
He was employed as a tiler and plasterer. He lived in 1820 at Box, Wiltshire. He lived in 1828 at Box, Wiltshire.
Children of Jacob1 Shell (2178) and Ann Lent (2239) both b. at Box, Wiltshire, England, were as follows:

She witnessed the marriage of William Isaac (1911) and Martha Shell (1912) on 11 April 1814 at Box, Wiltshire.3

               iii.       JAMES (2180); b. 1792; christened 19 August 1792 at Box, Wiltshire.
               iv.       ISAAC (2181); b. 1798; christened 1 April 1798 at Box, Wiltshire; m. Sarah (--?--) (2225); d. 1861 at Kingsdown, Box, Wiltshire; bur. 9 November 1861 at Box Burial Ground, Box, Wiltshire.4
He was employed as a plasterer and tiler. He appeared as head of household in the census of 1861 at Box, Wiltshire, England.5

2. MARTHA2 SHELL (1912) (Jacob1) was born in 1790 at Box, Wiltshire. She was christened on 7 November 1790 at Box, Wiltshire.6 She married William Isaac (1911), son of Charles Isaac (1913) and Mary Beak (1914), on 11 April 1814 at Box, Wiltshire.7 She died in 1853 at Kingsdown, Box, Wiltshire. She was buried on 7 November 1853 at Kingsdown, Box, Wiltshire.
She appeared in the census of 8 June 1841 at Kingsdown, Box, Wiltshire, household of William Isaac (1911).8 She appeared in the census of 1851 at Kingsdown, Box, Wiltshire, household of William Isaac (1911).9

               ii.       CHARLES (779); b. 20 February 1816; christened 24 March 1816 at Box, Wiltshire;13 m. Elizabeth Brown (780), daughter of William Brown (2188) and Elizabeth Howell (2216), 29 July 1839 at Box, Wiltshire;14 d. 25 December 1901 at 18 Follis Ave., Toronto, at age 85, the cause of death noted as "heart failure from old age;" bur. 27 December 1901 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto.
He was employed as a quarryman and mason. He appeared as head of household in the census of 6 June 1841 at Kingsdown, Box, Wiltshire, along with Elizabeth Isaac (780) and Louisa Isaac (1976).15 He appeared as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Kingsdown, Box, Wiltshire, along with Elizabeth Isaac (780) and James Isaac (837).16 He appeared as head of household in the census of 7 April 1861 at Kingsdown, Box, Wiltshire, along with Elizabeth Isaac (780), William Isaac (1885), and James Isaac (837).17 He immigrated after 1881 to Toronto. He appeared as head of household in the census of 3 April 1881 at Kingsdown, Box, Wiltshire.18 He lived in 1889 at 34 Boswell Ave., Toronto.19
               iii.       ELIZABETH (2182); b. 23 April 1818; christened 24 May 1818 at Box, Wiltshire.
               iv.       GEORGE (1924); b. 22 July 1819; christened 15 August 1819 at Box, Wiltshire; m. Mary Newton (2009) 14 August 1841 at Chippenham, Wiltshire, England; d. before 1871 at Box, Wiltshire.
He witnessed the marriage of Charles Isaac (779) and Elizabeth Brown (780) on 29 July 1839 at Box, Wiltshire.20 He appeared as head of household in the census of 1851 at Kingsdown, Box, Wiltshire.

               viii.       MARTHA (1928); b. 2 March 1825; christened 3 April 1825 at Box, Wiltshire.
               ix.       MARY ANN (1929); b. 9 August 1826; christened 3 September 1826 at Box, Wiltshire; m. Alfred Button (2026) 30 October 1848 at Chippenham, Wiltshire, England.
               x.       ABRAHAM (1930); b. 17 April 1828; christened 25 May 1828 at Box, Wiltshire.
He appeared as head of household in the census of 1881 at 37 Wayford St, Battersea, Surrey, England.21 He appeared as head of household in the census of 1901 at Battersea, London, England.22
