James & Samuel Irwin - Cumberland Co. PA.
Posted by: Ann Irwin (ID *****5236) Date: July 05, 2008 at 14:09:07
  of 2947

According to a prior post James Irwin emigrated to America with 4 sons James, John, Samuel & Archibald. This family was found just below present Mercersburg near the Conococheague Creek in what is now Franklin Co. Pa.
I have found - The original Land Warrants of Cumberland County, PA lists:

Irwin, Samuel 50 acres E.S. Conococheague Twp 8 June 1762 a patent was not returned on this land. And assume this is
Samuel the son of James.

Does anyone have information on this Samuel?

My Samuel turned up in Mecklenburg Co. NC in June 1764 when he purchased land on the Rocky River. Many of his neighbors and friends I have traced to Cumberland Co. PA.
Samuel's wife was Hannah, his sons were William & Robert.
Could this be the same Man?
