Have you checked out Tony Gotts site Shetland Family History Websiteat http://www.bayanne.info/Shetland/ ?
He has posted many Irvines and several Walters born in Burra. There is a Walter Irvine born in 1769 and Baptized 7 Jan 1770. His parents are Arthur Irvine and Margaret Leask.
