In the Name of God Amen. I Alexander Irvin of Halifax County, Va being of sound sense mind and of memory blessed be God and calling to remembrance the transitoryness of this life and that it is appointed for all men once to Die.I do make + ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following hereby revoking disannulling all other Wills or Testaments heretofore by me made. Viz My will and desire is that all my just debts and funeral charges be justly and fully paid by the Executors here after mentioned. I lend to my Mary Irvin the tract of land whereon I now live including the improvements and every of the appertinances there unto belonging also two Negroes named Bob and Rofe also my Chattel Estate together with Household and Kitchen furniture, Plantation utensils of every kind to be her use benefit during her life and from after her Decay to be distributed in manner as here after directed.Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Hurst one Rone Mare and her increase to be at her use and benefit immediately after my Decrease. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Catherine Irvin one small mare by the name of Blaze. Item my forth will and desire is that after the death of my wife my exc shalll as soon as my be convenient expose to publick sale all and singular my Real and Personal Estate without exception of the various kind in which it consists as has been done before saving such articles as I have already given and bequeath and the money arising from such sale to be equally divided between my daughters Catherine Irvine, Margaret Brandham and Anna Lawson to be to them and their heirs lawfully begotten of theirs boddies for ever. And further and lastly I do hereby Constitute ordain and appoint Thomas Brandham Catherine Irvine my whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament. In Witness where of I have hear unto set my hand and affixed my seal this 19th Day of May Anno Do 1783

At a Court held for Halifax County the 17th day of January 1784
The Last Will and Testament of Alex Irvine deceased was exhibited in Court by Thomas Brandon and Catherine Irvin the executors here in named and the same was proved by the oath of one of the witnesses hereto. Also Wm McCraw made oath that the signing here is the hand writing of the said Alex Irvine and the same was ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of the said Executors who made oath hereto according to Law Certificate was granted for them for obtaining Probate here of in due form. They given Security where upon they together with Andthony Gresham and David Brandon their securities entered into and acknowledged Bond for the same according to law.
