I am also descended supposedly from a Colonel Irvine of this period, or slightly later - land grants were also given for loyal service to the Hanoverian kings in the 18th Century "low countries" wars - although the bulk of my Irvine ancestors are from Kesh/Lack/Irvinestown, Fermanagh/Tyrone. Search on "Irvinestown" for some interesting background to this branch. Their house is now a golf course and hotel, I believe. I am trying currently to chase up my cousin, James Mythan, who has the early (as opposed to post-1860) family tree (which also includes the Virtue, Ferris and Mc William family, with whom the Irvines intermarried. Try some of the Ulster geneology magazine sites. Good luck
