I believe my grandfather, William Preston Irvine, was Sophia's brother. Will as he was known was the youngest of the family of Benjanin Dabney and Emma Agnes (Moran) Irvine. The father of Benjanin was Sam Irvine)The oldest brother, Tom "Tom Cat" left Tenn for Calif and worked for United Fruit in Central America. Family rumor has it he was shot in a poker game. Sophia Irvine Ferguson had, we believe, three sons (Sam, Forest, and the third I don't know the name). There was a brother whose name was Robert, who was known as "Uncle Bob Lee"; a brother named Moran; and a brother named Forest (who moved to Fort Worth,TX). Also "Uncle Bump" James A who my dad says got his mane because he had a bump on his head. Will was born in 1880. The fought in the Spanish American War,Phillipine Insurrection, and China Relief Expedition (Boxer Rebellion). He married Lucille Jeanbatista in 1909. They had three children: James Preston born 1910 (we are celebrating Uncle James' 90th birthday this weekend) Emma Agnes (never married, Born 1912,Died in 1968), and William Thomas (my Dad, born 1922). I have possession of the Family Bible with genealogy information dating back to the late 1700's.
