Earlier, I went on line and found the info you cite from the papers of Capt. John Erwin. Had planned to post, now I see you already have it.Further I have found that William's will was first proved in 1744, wonder why it was again deposited in court in 1763?
If the birth years of Alexander (1723)is +/- two years and probably that of Ann (1726), their father cannot be the 7 brother William. Semple, the Irish genealogist, said that the brothers came 1725-1731 (3, names unknown, in 1731)
Sorry, but that leaves you at ground zero.But its better to know that someone years ago wrote something that was wrong.As many did back then, they found the correct given name and decided it fit.
