I’ve been researching my Irvin family and maybe some of my information can help someone and they can help me.
This is on my dad’s side, I don’t know too much about them other than they were farmers from the early 1800’s until the early 1900’s. If you can help fill in some birthdates/years and who they married, I’d appreciate it.

Malachi Irvin b. 1812 in Georgia
Married Elizabeth Turner b. 1821
Malachi Sr. is listed on the 1864 Census for Re-organizing the Georgia Militia roster, along with his oldest son, Malachi Jr. and Alexander. His age is listed at 49 years old, which would make his birth year 1815. I’ve found other data to suggest he was born in 1812.
Alexander Irvin is a possible brother or cousin to Malachi
b. 1823 or 1826 in Scotland. Occupation: machinist (as listed on the 1864 Census for Re-organizing the Georgia Militia)
Malachi and Elizabeth had the following children, born in Upson Jackson County, GA:

m. December 25, 1858 in Pike County to
Walton P. Kent
b. 1827 in Georgia
Nancy A. Irvin
b. 1844 or 1846
married William P. Freeman, January 19, 1873 in Meriwether County (her mother’s nephew, perhaps?) I found in 1880 that Nancy and William Freeman were living with Malachi Jr.

Louisa Freeman

Malachi Jr. is listed on the 1864 Census for Re-organizing the Georgia Militia roster, along with his father Malachi and Alexander. Malachi Jr is listed as 16 years 1 month old, which would put his birth year at 1848. Considering that both Sr. and Jr.’s birth years are off by exactly 3 years, I assume there must be something else going on, perhaps, that’s when they signed up, at those ages, in 1861.
