I have been researching some information on the Ironside family and inparticular a Dr Eva Ironside from the area of Huntly?, Aberdeenshire. Eva died in March 1972 and was for over forty years the local GP in Buckfastleigh, South Devon (UK). My father was evacuated from London with his twin brother during WW2 and ended up living with Eva and her companion, Miss Morgan at Redmount, Buckfastleigh. After the war my Father and Harry, his brother stayed on with Eva as their own parents beleived they would have a better life. John and Harry were sent to All Hallows School in Dorset (i think) and eventually (after many years and his brothers' death), John married and moved to redmount to look after Eva until her death.

Eva is beleived to be the first cousin of William Edmund 'Tiny' Ironside 1880 - 1959(Fieldmarshall). My Brother was left a lot of Eva's things including pictures of Edmund in his uniform.

Can anyone help me with information on the family of Eva and the links to the Ironside name. Eva always said that the name was descended from the McKay Clan?
