William Ireland of yorkshire

When my great grandmother's first child was baptised,at Whitgift in Yorkshire, the record has it that she was the wife of George Henry Walker , a soldier in the Crimes but that it was not his child. Family legend has it that my ggmothers 4 or 5 oldest children were those of her employer William Ireland and that this happened fairly frequently in the area! He is reputed to have given all his girl children a dowry and had all his sons apprenticed to a trade (at that time you had to pay to do so), and it is reputed that for many years after his death someone anonymously left a posy of flowers on his grave on his birthday. My gg mother's name was Hannah Hardwick or Haddock b. Reedness Yorkshire 22/7/1822 does anyone else know of such a legend in their family, are your Irelands or Irlands fron this area of England. please contact me if you know or can help
