Well, you've picked out a name that I do not have in my data base for some reason.I do remember looking at this family some years ago and vaguely remember that descendants moved into Tennessee.I don't know why I didn't enter the data in my database.I'll look around to see if I can find my information. I do know that I was never able to connect him to the main branches that I have.In my files, the given name Peter almost exclusively came from Bessarabia in Russia.Well, I guess there were a few Petrus from Germany but none I could connect to Peter D. for sure.
I looked at my book and found notes on a Darby, Peter and William Irons were in Surry Co., NC in 1768-1785.Part of Surry became Stokes in 1789. There is amountain up in that area called Irion Mountain in 1776.It was too early for my family group to have been there.
There is also a Harmon Irons in 1810 and 1820 in Haywood County. In 1830 he is listed as Harrison in Macon Co. but it is wrong.) His family moved into Tennessee eventually. The name Peter shows up in his family
Just an interesting note. One of mine, Henry, married Sarah Crimm. The Crimm Family came from Faquier Co., VA and the names Peter and Harmon exist in that family.
There are other rumors of another family who came earlier than mine.I have the story somewhere.I will have to find it.
There were some Irons in southern VA, Washington, Monongalia,, Patrick, and Monroe Co.'s, which I have not been able to connect.
Ah. I found a note that says your Peter in the 1850 Census says he was born in VA.So he may be part of the above. I have him listed as Peter O. instead of D.
