William Thomas Irick
I hope someone can help me. My great-great grandfather was William Thomas Irick son of Joseph and Thursey McCown Irick. I know William was married to Virgie Blair and they had 4 children, Estella b: 1907, Alice b: 1909, Lilly b: 1912, and Roberta b: 1914, but my father Thomas Irick was not born until 12 yrs later in 1926. I long suspected that William had taken a 2nd wife but have not been able to prove much. I was given the name of Tonnie Gee as a 2nd wife by someone else on the message board but cannot find anything on this person. I did find an Anthonette Gee and though maybe Tonnie (Tony) may have been a shortened version of Anthonette but cannot confirm that. I did however; find out through census records that Anthonette was a woman of color or mulatto. I don’t know if this is why I cannot find any documentation or if I just have the wrong information. Can anyone help me? Does anyone have any records regarding William Thomas being married a 2nd time. The 1930 census does show Virgie and being divorced so it is very likely he was married again.
I was hoping someone related to one my fathers siblings might know something. Any help would be appreciated
My father, Thomas, was not in my life while I was growing up and I did not meet him till around 1985. He lived in Hemet, CA and I live in Iowa so our only communication was by phone and he really did not talk much about his childhood. I did meet him once when my brother and I went to CA but that was a short visit and we did not get to talk too much about his family.
He did tell me a story about being sent to an orphanage by his parents during the depression because they could not take care of him but I have not been able to prove that either. Can you help me with any of this? I would really appreciate it.
