Hi Kate, I transposed William's dod; you are right, it is 1856. I've been trying to tie Patrick R. Furlong to this bunch, but it's been a challenge. He apparently goes by Keating Patrick, Patrick, K.P., and Keaton on various vitals and census records. His first wife looks to me like Mary Cullerton who he marries in Lawrence in 1854, giving his parents as William and Catherine. Second wife looks like Clarissa Burk, daughter of Edward and Mary, also in Lawrence, in 1859 and also giving his parents as William and Catherine. On later censi and birth records, however, Clarissa is listed as Theresa. I also noted the similarity between the maiden names of Catherine Furlong and Patrick's first wife. However, on Patrick's death cerificate, his mother is listed as Mary Keating. I can't tell if they are the same person or two different Patricks! My connection to Fitchburg is my great-great uncle Kieran Furlong and his sister Mary settled there in 1873. Their mother was Ellen Prendergast or Pendergast. More Furlong family - another sister and a host of nephews and nieces - then immigrated to that area between 1880 and 1903. For years, we have been trying to determine - Why Fitchburg? Who was there prior to 1873 to establish a "home base" for Kieran and Mary? Family history has it that there were "some aunts" there and an uncle around 1860 that sponsored the others. Our Ellen Prendergast died in Co Kilkenny Ireland in 1873. I don't know if she was born in Kilkenny or Wexford. She married James Furlong circa 1835, but unable to find an online marriage record, but strongly suspect it was in Co Wexford. Are your Pendergasts from Wexford? I believe Mary Furlong Doyle, wife of Peter, is related to this bunch and is the dau of William and Catherine. I find her marriage record to Peter Doyle in Fitchburg on 21-Jul-1856 with her parents listed as William and Catherine and her age given as 23. They had 6 children that I've been able to find: Mary (b 1857 in Fitchburg,d:1864 Boston - measles), Patrick (b:1858 Boston), Catherine (b: 1860 Boston, d:1864 Boston - measles), Thomas (b:1863 Boston, d:1864 Boston - lung congestion), Williams (b:1865 Boston) and Elizabeth (b: circa 1868 Boston) Karen Notify Administrator about this message?
