Dear Eileen,
Dear Eileen, Thankyou so much for your email regarding my GORE ancestors.

I have explored the Shuddall connection a while ago. I am in contact with a Shuddall researcher who lives in Melbourne, Australia (I'm in Sydney). He sent me what he has on them to date, with the few details that you also sent me.

There MUST be a connection between my RICHARD GORE b.1824 and his father, also RICHARD GORE. As the town must only have been very small in those days, probably still is. Interestingly, on Richard (1824)immigration information a John Shuddall of Duncormick is given as a referee for him.

Have you any other information on the GORE family of the area? And where do you fit in with the Shuddall's.

The GOREs are supposedly connected to the Earl of Arran, but I can't work out how, thus far. John Gore seems to have held a lot of land in Duncormick, leasing it to various parties, including Shuddall, if I remember correctly. It is possible that my Richard was his brother or grandson.

Look forward to hearing back from you, Katharine.

PS Are you in Ireland?
