The Hay line was first established in County Wexford with the arrival of the Norman family, de la Haye. There are various spellings of the same clan: Hay, Hayes, etc. the family coat-of-arms can be found here http://www.araltas.com/features/hayes/
My paternal grandmother was a Hay from Wexford, and have a limited amount of info, although we are still trying to clarify the line via her father's side. Many Irish were married in Liverpool's catholic churches, which is a good source for genealogy trails.
