Abby,

The way I found my Peter was by using Griffiths Valuation. There were only 3 Peters in Westmeath and a researcher looked at the films. We were lucky to find his marriage to Rose Kenny/Kenney in the Collinstown parish films the first try. The Westmeath catholic parish films are available thru familysearch.org. You order them and view at a local FHC.

Griffiths -- search "cul" for Jane and see if there is a cross reference between moran/cullman in Griffiths (you'll find Colmans also):

Do we correspond a few years ago on your Peter Moran? Were they with Kennys? They were grocers in VA?

I see them in 1870:
1870 United States Federal Census > Virginia > Augusta > District 1

Peter Moran 33
Julia 37
James 7
Ella 4
John 2
Patrick 1

1880 Staunton - Grocery Merchant:

Peter Moran 44 IRe
Julia Moran 46 IRE
Jas. Moran 16
Ellen Moran 14
Jno. Moran 12

Some tidbits:

Jan 1859: Of PATRICK MORAN, a native of Recunnell, near Dingle [co. Kerry], who came to this country about 12 years ago and was last heard from in Iowa. Please address
