My GGrandmother, ANNIE MARIA BOYLE, came from Co Tyrone. I would dearly love to know where in Tyrone she was born. The family was Catholic.
Her parents: JOHN BOYLE, Born 1833-1834, died age 40 in 1874.(born Ireland)
His wife, MARY BOYLE, born 1833. (Born Ireland)
Only child? ANNIE MARIA BOYLE. Born 1862-3. It is likely the family left Ireland when Annie Maria was a child, as she had frightening memories of the voyage to England and being tossed in storms when at sea and spoke of whirlpools.
ANNIE MARIA was living in Deansgate, Manchester on the 1881 census with her parents, and also living with them was a THOMAS BOYLE(Lodger, Hog Salesman)approx same age as ANNIE MARIA (Born 1863)but no relation, as she married him 3 years later at St Mary's Catholic Church in Manchester.
On the marriage certificate, the father of THOMAS BOYLE,(the groom) also called THOMAS BOYLE is present at the ceremony as a witness.
(Bride's parents; father deceased, John BOYLE died age 40.), mother, MARY BOYLE, not mentioned, but MARY was on the 1891 census ten years later.)
THOMAS BOYLE, sr. and THOMAS BOYLE jr. gave their birthplace as County Leitrim.
On the 1881 census, there was also a JAMES BOYLE, living with the family, who was 72 on the 1881 census, so born C 1809. He is described as a 'cattle salesman', born in Ireland. He could have been a parent of JOHN or MARY.
He might have been a grandparent of THOMAS BOYLE jr, but that seems less likely to me.
If anyone is looking in old Catholic church records will they please keep an eye out for the marriage of JOHN BOYLE and MARY BOYLE (I know these are common names) and the baptism of their first(only?) child born about 1862. ANNIE MARIA BOYLE.
