Philadelphia Passenger & Immigration lists show the David Cooke family arriving from County Tyrone in 1833. Lots of Co. Tyrone emigrants are in this 2-page ship list, well worth reading through.
Ship Name:"Prudence"
Arrival Date: 31 July 1833
Port of Arrival:Philadelphia
Place of Origin: County Tyrone
National Archives' Series #425
Microfilm #48
These Cookes are all together on the passenger list, and all the Cookes are from "Cty of Tyrone."
John Cooke - 35 - Labourer - Cty of Tyrone
Mary Cooke - 24
David Cooke - 60 - Farmer
Hannah Cooke - 55
David Cooke - 34 - Farmer
James Cooke - 25
Jane Cooke - 24
Margaret Cooke - 6
David Cooke - 4
Joseph Cooke - 2
See the David Cooke letters from Co. Tyrone to his children in Pennsylvania, 1820s to 1830s, at PRONI (Public Record Office of Northern Ireland) or transcribed on the Dippam.ac.uk web site. He mentions many relatives and friends, and after much debate and speculation, finally decides to join his children who have already emigrated to the United States.
Jane Cooke in the 1833 ship list is the wife of James Cooke (immediately above her name) -- see David's letters where he says that his son James has married "Jean McKane" and then has children named Margaret and David.
This isn't my family, but I found them while looking for others from County Tyrone.
