Skip,
I am sorry I do not have direct information for you, but there is a good chance that my O'Dohertys from Kilcommon parish, Co. Tipperary, Ireland and your Doughertys are related.Dohertys in this area of Ireland are not common and there are many common roots.
My O'Dohertys go back to my GGGGgrandfather Owen O'Doherty in the later 1700s.I do not have record of his siblings and only have record of one son, also Patrick married to Peg Carr.I have record of Patrick and Peg's children, but your Patrick is not one of them.
However, we have several baptisms and marriages were Gleesons were sponsors. Also, Margaret O'Doherty from this line (my GGgrandmother) married James Quillinan who had a farm in Raheen/Kyle.There are a couple of Quillinans that also married Gleesons in this same area.
If you are interested, I have some family O'Doherty histories and my family tree information.
