Hello, I am a Tobin. I've been looking for past ancestors on my Father's TOBIN side, I have been searching for the 'TOBIN', name primarily from the New England States, and Nova Scotia, Canada, but since my mother informed me it might have been ENGLAND, and not IRELAND, she thinks the spelling might have derived from maybe TOBYN,TOBAN,TOBBAN,TOBEN, to what is is now....TOBIN. But again, This is all I have and it might very well be IRELAND. My Father was Vincent John Tobin, born on Cambridge Ma. in 1920. His Father was Richard Henry Tobin, also from Cambridge, Ma. Richards dad was William Henry Tobin, b.1843 Cape Breton, Nova Scotia Williams dad was Nicholas Tobin b.1798, d.4-7-1887. That's where it ends, so far with my Tobin line...except that somewhere I got the notion that Nicholas Tobin's parents were John Wootzen or Wilson, b.1784-d.1806, and the wife was Eleanor Battersby, b.1786-d.1806. Why John Wootzen, and the Tobin name is left out here is beyond me, so I need to authenticate this further. If any of these names are a match in your trees, Please, contact me. Any good ENGLAND ANCESTRY SITES? Thank you! Sincerely, Jim Tobin Notify Administrator about this message?
