McDonough sounds Scottish. The fact that he had a title and probably owned land further supports this idea. This means he was likely protestant. If so, he was likely active in politics. Suggest you search the National Archives of Ireland for his political presence. There should also be wills, deeds, etc., for the McDonough family.

You stated their Roscommon parish was Boyle. Both the RC and CofI parishes of Boyle show B rcds begin around 1792.
