Liverpool was the most common staging area for post-famine emigrants. I didn't find any B rcds for either Thomas or Mary Chute for the year ranges you listed. There is a William Chute B 1837 in Co. Roscommon. I have several possibilities for you. 1. The surname Chute B rcds are concentrated in Co. Roscommon in the existing IFHF database. Four Roscommon RC parishes and all COI parishes weren't recording birth/baptisms until 1864 or later. These are: Frenchpark, Ballagh, Tarmonbarry, & Tulsk. These early events are lost to history forever. 2. Some Roscommon RC parish rcds haven't been digitized at all. These are: Ballinameen, Strokestown, Cloverhill, & Ballybay. These rcds are stated to be available by commissioning a search through the IFHF. E-mail it at info@ifhf.ie with your questions. Eventually, they will be added to the database. 3. If the parent Chute was from Kerry, not Roscommon, NONE of this county's rcds have been digitized by the IFHF. In this case, you will have to wait until they are. Google the Foundation's name, register, opt to be notified as rcds are added, and browse. 4. Most of the rcds for all Irish parishes were microfilmed by the LDS years ago. You can contact an LDS Family History Library/Center on how to access its rcds. 5. For Margaret Smith B 1837 (exact), there are 23 B rcds for this year in all Ireland. For ditto, M 1857 (exact), there are 17 M rcds. Without a known parish and/or county, it is impossible to determine which ones, if any, are for your ancestors. If you could find an M rcd for William, this would give you a county and a parish in which to look for Margaret's rcds. Hope this helps direct your search. Notify Administrator about this message?
