John Higgins of Derrygolagh (also name Mulvanny)
Posted by: Peter Kelleher (ID *****4487) Date: August 16, 2008 at 13:00:00

Hello from Nova Scotia via Boston.

I have been researching my maternal grandparents and have received my grandfather's Irish Long Form Birth Certificate.

John Higgins was born January 3, 1876 in Derrygolagh. His father was Thomas Higgins, Landholder. His mother was Anne Mulvanny. He emigrated to Massachusetts and died there in 1960. Family lore has it that some of his siblings remained in Ireland.

My maternal Grandmother was also born in Ireland. Her name was Sarah (Teresa) Mullen. I did request her Long Form Birth Certificate for years 1875-1880(this would have corresponded to her stated age on the Marriage Certificate) but it did not show up. Her father was Luke Mullen and mother Sarah Connelly.

I would appreciate any help in where I might find further documents or information about the Higgins, Mulvannys, Mullens or Connellys.

Thanks.

Peter
