I am trying to find additional information on one Patrick Dunican. He was born in Co. Roscommon around 1840. He and at least his mother, Bridget immigrated to America before 1860. I have located him in the US 1860 census in Cincinnati Ohio. He then joined the Union army in 1861and served until 1865. During his service he recieved a significant wound which caused him a permanent disability. He married Mary Winters/Winter and they had only one child Sarah Rose who was born in Cincinnati. He worked as milliner and held several odd jobs. They lived in Springfield Illinpois and then moved to Pottawatamie County Kansas where he dioed in 1886 at the age of 46.
I am trying to find out more information regarding his family before they immigrated to America. I believe he might have had a sister named Catherine for he refers to his sisters and also references a John McDermott and family (the wife being named Catherine).
He at least claimed he was born in Co Roscommon when he re-enlisted on the battlefield in 1864.
Doe sanyone know anything about this particular branch of the Dunican family in Co. Roscommon.

Valerie Reese
