Roscommon to Philadelphia - O'Farrell with Neartney / Nearny & Thompson
Posted by: L Faris (ID *****7169) Date: May 14, 2004 at 10:51:21

I hope that someone can help my family and me. For many years we have been seeking the birthplace of my Irish ancestors.

BRIDGET O’FARRELL, emigrated to the US in 1872. Bridget married in Philadelphia Pennsylvania (John HANNIGAN), raised a family there and lived to a very old age. We believe she was born in November 1853 in CLOONFINLOUGH, County ROSCOMMON. I am not sure if that refers to the Parish or the Townland. We believe her parents were Michael O’Farrell and Honora NEARTNEY / NEARNEY. We know that her cousin, Jimmy THOMPSON, also lived in Philadelphia, PA and that he returned to Ireland to bring his wife to the US.

Much research and several visits to Ireland have not yet revealed any evidence of either family in Ireland. We hope someone who recognizes a family connection will contact us so that we can be successful. I can be reached at faris_l@rocketmail.com

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,
Lorraine Faris
