Claffys of Rashinagh Co. Offaly.

John Claffy and Mary Carroll b.1792 d.1876 of Rashinagh Co. Offaly had three sons mentioned in the baptism records:

John b.1823 d.c1905
Kieran b.1828 d.1910
Thomas b.1831 d.????

The land valuation records gave me two more:

Peter b.1814 d.1888
Patrick b.1818 d.1901

The 1901 Census gave me a daughter:

Elizabeth Duffy (nee Claffy) b.1820 d.c1905

Peter, Patrick and John all died as bachelors and Elizabeth was childless, I think.
I don't know what happened to Thomas but there was a marriage of Thomas Claffy and Elizabeth Brassil, Feb 10 1858, mentioned in the parish records with a Elizabeth Claffy for sponsor.
Kieran, my GGGrandfather emmigrated to New Zealand and married Ellen Hartstonge of cork b.1855 d.1879 on April 01 1875. They had two daughters before Ellens untimely death:

Mary Josephine b.1876 d.1968
Ellen Agnes b.1877 d.1970

Mary married Andrew Phelan b.1870 d.1918, my other GGGrandfathers orphaned nephew, on Jan 16 1901, and Ellen, my GGrandmother, married James O'Connell b.1872 d.1941, my GGrandfather, on April 25 1900.

If anyone has any info about this family or any questions please respond either here or Email me on:
