I am searching for the Family / Parents of my 5th grt. grandfather James MOODY who was born c1750 ~poss.~ in northern Ireland, ~possibly~ in Maine, USA, or ~poss.~ in Nova Scotia, Canada or some other place, at this point I just don't know or have enough info to lead me into the next Research step. I know that he married his 1st wife in York Co., Maine in Jan. 1774...her name was Elizabeth DONALD (also seen spelled Donnell/Dunnell...daughter of sea Capt. Benjamin Donnell and Sarah Kingsbury of Buxton, York, ME). James and Elizabeth had at least 3 known children...Sarah, James and Joseph MOODY all born between later 1774 and c1782. Then in July 1784 James Moody was in Annapolis Co., Nova Scotia, Canada marrying his 2nd wife Sarah BAKER (daughter of John Baker and Persis Wheeler who came to Nova Scotia from Barnstable Co. area of MA). James and Sarah had 9 children...3 sons named Henry, James and John MOODY and several daughters. I believe James Father's name to have been James since he named a son James with each of his wives. I believe his Mother's name ~might~ have been Marion/Miriam or Catharine. James Moody was a Loyalist, but he was Not associated with the one from New Jersey who was the spy for the British that the book was written about. My James Moody's living descendants as of the 1881 Nova Scotia Census' all claim an IRISH descent. This is why I feel that James must have come to Nova Scotia by way of Northern Ireland and probably around c1760. He may have come as a Servant, an Indentured servant or with his Family, which I cannot find. If anyone can help I would be Most Greatful for any info. Thank You very much.
