Shean or McDonald in Clones
My husband's ancestors are Shean and McDonald. Daniel Shean was born in 1823 in Ireland and immigrated to the US, lived in Rock Island, IL, died in 1889. His son William was born in Rock Island in 1860. William married Sarah A. McDonald. Sarah was born 31 Jan 1854 in Ireland, died 20 Jun 1918 in Omaha, NE. I have their photos.
Now I don't know where in Ireland Daniel Shean and Sarah McDonald were born. But I found 2 old photos from the 1880s that may give a clue. They were printed by the photographer J. Galway with the address: 21 Fermanagh St., Clones. And I found that Clones is located in Co. Monaghan in Ireland. These 2 photos are probably from relatives who lived in Clones. But thay are not signed and I don't know who is pictured in them. I would like to find out if there were some Shean or McDonald families in Clones. Shean was also spelled Sheahan in the 1860 and 1870 US census. I would appreciate any help to clarify this. Or maybe someone can tell me where to search old records of Clones.
