BROWNfamily of Killeanly, Errigal Trough, Co. Monaghan c. 1825

Searching for any information, especially church records, on the BROWN family of Killeanly, Errigal Trough parish, Co. Monaghan.

Rebecca BROWN was a daughter of this family, born about 1819, married Robert HADDEN of Aghaloo parish, Co. Tyrone about 1840-1844, and died 1883. She and her husband lived at Glenkeen and Crilly, and are buried at Ballymagrane Presbyterian Church cemetery, Aghaloo parish.

Rebecca BROWN is said to have had at least 3 sisters, one of whom married a GRIMES and lived at Lowart, Co. Monaghan, before emigrating to Australia. Another sister married an ARMSTRONG or a man named ARMSTRONG HARTFORD.

Tithe Applotments show only 2 BROWNS at Killeanly in 1826:

Arthur Brown
Robert Brown

One of these men was very likely Rebecca's father. Rebecca's son James HADDEN named his first son "Arthur Brown HADDEN" -- an indication that this may have been a grandfather's name.

By the time of Griffith's Valuation, there were no longer any BROWNS at Killeanly townland.

Glad to share all information I've gathered on this family and their descendants, and I'll be most appreciative of ANY CHURCH RECORDS that can be shared. Jack Storey, can you please help? This is for a cousin living near Minterburn today who has just begun to look up her ancestors.

Annie
