John Faley b.1826 Carrickmacross, County Monaghan

Looking for any information about my gggrandfather, John Faley, b.1826 (poss 1830) in Carrickmacross, County Monaghan. He married a Bridget Finn, also of Carrickmacross, and immigrated to the US prior to 1862. They settled first in Taunton, MA then in Bureau County,IL. They had 10 children. Specifically hoping to find information about their families in Ireland. My parents will be traveling to the town of Carrickmacross later this summer. My father has had little luck contacting Catholic parishes in the area, and records have been hard to come by. Any ideas about where to get help/information? Thank you for any assistance!
