I do not have much for you but
1) there is supposed to be an Elliot in my family tree. She was the mother of my grgrgrandfather whose exact origin in Ireland is not certain, but who married a woman from Mohaghan. He was born around 1814 and his last name was McCann.

2) I also have a different branch of my family that immigrated to Canada from Ireland. There is an Elliot family that settled in St Columban in Quebec in the early 19th cent. I think that area may have been considered lower canada- but am not certain. There is a website about st columban - it was an irish colony when it was first established. http://www.stcolumban-irish.com/
Good luck
