Any ideas on the Roman Catholic Churches in the Cootehill area of Cavan? It is my understanding that many from that area went to Churches near Clones Monaghan. My great grandfather, James McDonald married Ellen Barrett around 1882 and had two children Mary born November 1883 and Bernard born 1886 in Cootehill. The family moved to NYC around 1889 and Ellen died soon after. James (aka John) remarried Mary Moore ( from Clones ) and had my grandfather in NYC in1894. I am trying to find marriage records for John/James in Ireland and also trying to determine if John/James and Mary Moore knew each other from Ireland. Any help would be appreciated.
