Paul Monaghan b. abt 1841 somewhere in Ireland

I am looking for a Paul Monaghan born about 1841 in Ireland. The story passed down over the last 3 generations states that "he came to America through the port of New York with his seven sisters without their parents during Ireland's potato famine probably during the 1870s. They had been living in County Monaghan in Ireland. Then he quickly came to Texas and settled in Tyler and took up barbering...." etc. I have records that match up with the rest of the story.

After having scoured every immigration record and naturalization record I can get my hands on I am still at a loss for his origin. I have found Paul Monaghan in Henderson TX in the 1880 census with his wife Mary. I have also found probate records at the court house from Jan 1889, however they are only guardianship records of his minor children with no mention of his siblings, parents, or where he was born. If anyone has anything they could contribute to my search I would be forever grateful!!
