My grandmother arrived at EllisIsland in September of 1923. She listed James Monaghan as the person who would be living with. The manifest noted that he owned "Monaghan's bar". Her final destination was listed as Philadelphia so I assume that is where he was. Her name was Mary O'Neill and she arrived from Scotland (Greenock) where she lived on 9 Darymple street greenock. Her mother's name was Bridgot or more likely Bridget)> I assume Bridget's maiden name was Monaghan.

Does this ring a bell with anyone? Did you have a James Monaghan that owned a Monaghan's in the NYC or Philly area?

p.s. my grandmother was born in Scotland but her parents were from Ireland..that is why I'm posting here..thanks..
I assume James was from Ireland or his family was.

thanks

Pete
