My family is from Ballybay, Co. Monaghan. My mother was McElearney (now Higgins). She was one of 5 - 3 girls & 2 lads. My Granda, Peter McElearney (RIP), was one of 7 McElearney's - 6 lads, 1 girl. Only one of his siblings, Dan (~85 y/o), survives him. I am not aware of any other relations w/ the McElearney name. We have some cousins of my mothers (from my granda's sister) but they are now Duffy's.
My auntie Kathleen, married McDermott and lives in Corlea, not far from the homeplace of Drumroosk.
Not sure if this helps any, but there are certainly McElearney's from Ballybay:-)
