This is just a consolidation of Ancestry of its products. The entire Genealogy.com site was acquired by Ancestry a few years ago, so all of the products of genealogy.com are already available on Ancestry.com, except the GenForum. Since Ancestry also owns RootsWeb, all of those forums, mailing lists, message boards, World Connect, etc are still in place. GenForum has always been considered a beginners work place while RootsWeb is for the more serious and accuracy bent researchers and has far more individual surname and place name forums, including separate divisions of Ireland. I would suggest if you have any trees posted on genealogy.com or its Family Tree Maker pages, that you copy those trees, update them, and then submit them to Ancestry.com or its RootsWeb World Connect pages, and then delete them from genealogy.com since you will have no way after September to edit them and there are no promises on how long they will be stored there.
