Hi Rob, I looked about in records and could find nothing leading me to Bains in co Tipperary. I found a birth of a Michael Bane in 1808 in county Galway but the father does not come up as Joseph.The record is at rootsireland.ie which is a pay per view site. Looking at the Tithe Applotment books 1814-1838 I find 2;
Joseph Bane 1827 townland:Ranahan parish:Feakle county:Clare
Joe Baines 1833 townland:Carhuard parish:Corcomohide county:Limerick
In Griffiths Valuation 1848-1864:
Joseph Bain co Antrim
Joseph Baines co Donegal
Michael Bain co Galway
5 Banes in co Clare but no Joseph or Michael
I also found these which may related to a brother of Michael or other family member;
Joseph Bane 1848 born @ 1828 in Galway jail for asking alms
Joseph Bane 1849 born @ 1829 in Galway jail for cow stealing
Joseph Bane 1849 born @ 1829 in Mountjoy jail,Dublin for cow stealing
Joseph Bane 1850 age @ 20,born @ 1830 in Bridewell jail,Dublin for cow stealing
If you find other info let me know and I will look further. It does appear that the Bains may be from someplace different.Hope this helps,Kim
