McGraths and Mathews Families to Illinois
Hi,
I am looking for anyone with a connection or information on the McGrath and or Mathews Family that came to America and ended up in Illinois.
My 2nd ggrandparents: Mary Ann McGrath, married to Peter Mathews
Mary Ann McGrath b. abt. 1828 County Cork, Ireland, married Peter Mathews b. Ireland d. 1893 in Monmouth, Warren, Illinois unk date of marriage or immigration however they had their first known child by 1858 and were living in Warren County, Illinois:
Children all born in Illinois
Mary E 1858-1938 m. Matthew W. Findley
Ellen Agnes 1860-1940 m. Thomas John Gavin
James 1860- 1936 m. Bridget Mahoney
Peter 1864-1935 m. Cora West
Anna M. 1866-1957 m. Edmund Lyons Donnelly
Margaret 1870- 1937 m. Henry McFarland
Katherine 1871- m. Richard Randall Hollis
I don't know if they married in Ireland or America.
Mary has been shown on her children's death certificates as Ellen Agnes, Mary and Mary Ann...on census records as Mary or Mary Ann...last name is spelled Mcgrath or McGrath or McGraw or Magrath.
I know per Peter Mathews husband of Mary he was is Illinois since 1857, he was in the Civil War no immigration or naturalization records found.
I am trying to find out any info on their immigration to the states/who their families were in Ireland.
ANY help would be so vey appreciated!
Thanks!
Mina
