Ballysadare in 1832 cholera outbreak
I wonder if there is any forum reader who might be aware of some notes on Collooney-Ballysadare in Co Sligo written by Nassau William Senior, one of the 1832 Poor Law Enquiry Commissioners. Not sure where I found these notes but he records an account told him by a person simply designated B which describes what was effectively the complete desolation of the village of Ballysadare in the 1832 cholera outbreak. According to this account over 500 residents of Ballysadare were effectively quarantined in their own village, sent in food, but left to their own fate. Eventually none of the food was taken. Presumably everybody died.Does anybody know the history of Ballysadare well enough to confirm that in the 1832 cholera outbreak the whole village died? Thanks.
