Helen, looking at the 1850 US census we find Charles and Nancy living with two of their daughters Rebecca and Mary and Thomas Gailey who is 90 yrs old.Could Thomas be Charles' father? Seems likely as son is Thomas as well. The said Thomas appears in the 1830 census with Charles as well.I found a few Gailey births on rootsireland.ie(a pay per view site) but none for Charles. In the Ulster Genealogical and Historical Guild in the interest list they have Charles Gailey and his wife Nancy Ann Wampler arriving in Penn but no year is given. Also listed is Thomas Gailey 1759-1852 arriving in Penn. The dates appear to be birth and death dates which match with info in the 1850 census. Two others who may be brothers of Charles,James born 1788 arrived in NY and William born 1790 arriving Penn also listed. If you look at old censuses, there are quite a few Gaileys listed in Penn, probably all related in some way.Have you tried getting the death cert/death record for Charles and Nancy? It may provide more details.Maybe you may find a death of Thomas as well esp in church records in Penn.I believe that the Gaileys may originally be from co Donegal as that is where I have found both Charles and Thomas referenced. As to Nancy Wampler, I can find no reference/records anywhere for anyone of that name although curiously it is quite prevalant in Scotland during that time period.Perhaps she was born in Scotland, went to Ulster(as many Scottish did)and then went from there to the US in the multitude of Scotch-Irish that emigrated.Hope this helps,Kim
